Topic: Decimals
This topic focuses on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions to the hundredths place.
Content Standard Statement:
CCSS.Math.Content.5.NBT.B.7 Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.
Demonstrating Math Knowledge:
Students will use unit blocks to visualize place value. They will complete worksheets and activities to help them better understand adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals with proper place value. After, the students will get in groups and make a poster that shows how they came up with the answer to a given problem and the poster will be hung in the classroom.
